Di Paterson's "SENIORS SPECIAL"

Diane Paterson (nee Lown) OAM JP
In honour of her dear and loving mother,
Linda provides Senior Specials

Di as she was best known to her family and friends was a well respected registered nurse and Director of Nursing in South Australia passionate about high standards of nursing including gerontology or senior care. Di was honorary secretary for the Nurses Memorial Foundation on Dequetteville Tce Kent Town for over a decade where she had the idea to create an awards night to reward excellence in nursing in SA. The awards known as Nurse of the Year were held yearly at the Hilton and sponsored by Channel 9 and Messenger Newspapers. Di served on numerous boards and panels and took her Justice of the Peace service very personally as her father was a state policeman whom she was dearly proud of all her life. Di was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for her contributions to nursing care, management and cirriculum

Di arrived at her high standards of care for those most in need via a continued learning path: Registered Nurse training at The Blyth Hospital and The Royal Adelaide Hospital; Midwifery training at The Queen Victoria Hospital; Nursing at Clare Hospital; Matron at Blyth Hospital; Nursing at The REPAT or Repatriation General Hospital; Business Management Diploma at The Insitute of Technology; Assistant Directorships of Nursing at The Memorial Hospital, and Alwyndor; Gerontology course at UniSA; Director of Nursing at Gleneagles, Orana, Monreith, and Warekila

On Linda's return from working in Sydney for over a decade and along with her Arts degree and suitable broad entertainment and non entertainment experience, her dear mother offered Linda a position in aged care administration. It's during this time her mother and a friend Meredith in the Lifestyle department encouraged Linda's passion for music performance by asking her to perform and booked her to provide live music entertainment concerts for senior care residents in low care, high care and dementia care

Since then, inspired by her mother, with great help from Pauline who now controls the live sound production, and along with encouragement from dear family and friends, seniors' bookings have become a great part of Linda's full-time entertainment profession which includes music for all types of social events including concerts and happy hours. Entertainment shows in the last year have included shows for: local councils such as for Glenelg Shire Council (Mayoral Christmas Garden Party) and the City of West Torrens Municipal Council (St Martin's Australia Day Concert as well as other concerts and happy hours); performance for community groups such as The Glenelg Community Centre, Birthday celebrations for private events and other monthly birthday concerts for various religious and community organisations including Eldercare, Lifecare, as well as private care centres

One of the many high standards passed from her mother onto Linda includes her passion for providing an uplifting environment with regular live entertainment with extended happy hour concerts for seniors within the community. Based on experience and depending on each concert requirements shows can be anywhere from 1 - 5 hours in duration with announcements, speeches and intermissions as desired
