Current Aspirations...

As an experienced community arts entertainer Linda is currently looking to form ongoing yearly partnerships with local hotels, social groups and community venues who can see the benefits of giving back to their community by providing various once a month residencies to entertainers to provide live music entertainment for their patrons to socialise, chat, eat, drink and dance on a regular and ongoing basis with their family and friends.
As different people frequent different community venues at different times Linda hopes to create shows for various venues each unique to suit their patrons requests. In doing this Linda hopes this can help her provide discounted shows for seniors' centres.
As a full-time musician one cannot survive on seniors shows alone therfore all ages shows also need to be booked on an ongoing basis to be able to financially begin and also be able to continually produce seniors shows for those living outside or inside care centres.
Sadly, Linda's mother passed away in mid 2012. In memory of her mother Linda started providing "Di Paterson's SENIORS SHOW SPECIALS ", (what a mouthful, "Di's SPECIALS" for short). A hiatus occurred over the last few years due to moving home and renovations, however now Linda hopes to carry this on, as the break has made her realise more strongly than ever it is an important service to the community as a whole - providing live music for our elders.
Once some regular ongoing monthly residencies are in place with her local community businesses, Linda hopes to continue with her mother's work in providing good enjoyable live music entertainment for seniors in care centres and throughout the community, and as this can be costly, she hopes by recieving regular ongoing monthly shows via venue providers, she will then able to subsidise her show costs to provide shows at a discounted price to community groups including all seniors groups.
To achieve this Linda would like your help in supporting the concept of more monthly ongoing residencies for entertainers such as herself.
Another alternative, if you're a business and not a venue, yet you wish to support this dream to provide more entertainment throughout our communities, you could decide to sponsor one or more shows ongoing or yearly for your local senior care centre or non profit community centre whereby you choose an entertainer to perform and pay for their entertainment services in return for your business details to be mentioned at least three times throughout the live show.
Linda hopes to coproduce monthly shows for all ages to enjoy at profit and not-for-profit community venues, local and state government functions, and private parties etc.
From 2004 until late 2013 Linda, with help from Pauline from 2006, before they relocated, together they provided senior show entertainment to various care and community centres throughout Adelaide metro area, whereby lovely relationships were made with the caring Directors of Nursing or Site Managers along with the Lifestyle Entertainment Managers and their lifestyle team, whom Linda thanks dearly, they know how much they are appreciated, because that special bond of understanding with mutual respect and appreciation is shared. Shows produced during this time included elder care centres in Hyde Park, Glenelg, Somerton Park, Brighton, Semaphore, Goodwood, Everard Park, Aberfoyle Park, Glengowrie, Marleston, Glen Osmond, Payneham and not least Woodcroft.
Hope is also there in the future to provide shows for over 55's for ongoing weekly socials and monthly dances, whether within their local community centres, clubs, pubs etc. There is great scope.
Income from these partnerships will allow Linda to partner also with senior care and senior community centres to provide live entertainment shows at discounted rates for their happy hours, monthly birthday and present giving celebrations, monthly dances, and fundraisers etc.
Please help Linda to do this by partnering with her and calling to book a once a month ongoing live music residency at your venue whereby you'll receive the loyalty discount.
If you would like to help your ongoing kindness in regard to this would always be appreciated as this is such important work as most in senior care cannot travel themselves to see live music entertainment so provisions need to be made to take it to them on a regular basis.
Linda's aim is to encourage more performing musicians back into their community venues on a regular basis whether private or public.
Linda appreciates that music is an ancient tribal tradition which like food and good beverages bring people together usually for the betterment of all to celebrate, and there is no financial excuse for any venue not to embrace their local artists as every venue has an entertainment licence included at no extra cost in their general licence so hopefully we'll be hearing more live entertainment from your local talented musicians on a more regular basis at every venue near you, throughout Australia and abroad.
Linda has learnt along the way that even though you are a trained and qualified artist; artists and production itself is so often looked over in local communities, unless the community as a whole is educated and becomes aware of it's multitude of benefits that extends across all age ranges. Sadly, it can be a often misunderstood and maligned profession without justification or too often ignored as a justifiable contributor to society as a whole, and yet without it we would understand each other less. Please embrace the arts, including the live arts, as community artists need a livelihood not unlike any other trained profession.
So please, next time a community artist no matter whatever discipline, if they quote you a price to produce their art, it is probably at the cheapest they can produce it for: when an artist accepts a contract, they are not only performing right then and there, but there is also the pre and post production time plus equipment and maintenance costs to account for to be able to successfully turnaround an art piece whether a show or a physical piece of art. Usually by the time the art performance has found you, there has already been too numerous hours to imagine utilised to create a show, so a price quoted to produce a show is usually hugely discounted already, and cannot be produced for any less, otherwise the artist won't be able to be in the marketplace to be able to produce it in the future - therefore less live music - therefore less art. The cost to produce art is often more expensive than what is recouped by the artist - so really any charges you may pay is well worth it, because the seen and unseen benefits are too numerous to mention.
Linda knows like any profession musicians appreciate consistant work, via residencies at local venues of at least once a month on the same day at the same hour each month so those who love a particular muso know where they are from month to month without question - ..."It's just like any franchise fast food place, really - you know when you go there, you know what you're gonna get".
